Before getting started in writing and advertising, Houston honed his customer service skills while working at a call center. Afterward, he worked as a journalist, writing for San Benito News. Soon after, he discovered that digital marketing was his true calling, and he joined the Cobalt Digital Marketing team as a Content Writer. Before long, he had moved up into the role of a Content Manager, then a SEO Specialist, and today he serves as our SEO Manager, steering the ship when it comes to search engine optimization.
Houston was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley, and you’ll still find him there today! He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication - Print Journalism from the University of Texas-Pan American (UTRGV) in 2007. During his time in school, he enjoyed acting in plays, particularly his role as Marc Antony in Julius Caesar. Searching for his outlet as a writer, he did some script writing and poetry, contributing his time to the university newspaper and magazine.
Houston enjoys all the classic Texas pastimes: fishing, eating, and talking. A longtime player of Defense Against the Ancients (DOTA), Houston is also a big fan of massive online battle arena games (MOBAs), though he can often be found playing whatever recent indie rogue-likes and rogue-lites look interesting. As a reader, Houston tends toward grimdark books, with The Black Company being a favorite. Houston also finds joy spending time with his furry friends, with 8 cats and two dogs to keep him company.
